Building a menu does not make your store visible to customers. Publishing does.
Publish
- Open Menu Builder.
- Select Menu Settings in the left-hand list.
- Select Publish Menu at the top right.
You get a Menu published! notification and the button disappears — it is only shown while a menu is unpublished, so its absence means you are already live.
Preview first
View Menu, next to it, opens your store exactly as a customer sees it, in a new tab. Check it before you publish, and again afterwards.
The setup checklist
Until you publish, the Complete your setup card on the Dashboard shows Publish your menu with a Not live yet chip. Publishing clears it.
That item depends on two others being done first — Add your store details and Add items to your menu — so clear those before reaching for the button.
After publishing
Being published is not the same as being open. Customers still cannot order unless:
- The badge at the top of the portal says OPEN, or your trading hours have opened you automatically. See Open or close your store for online orders.
- Today is ticked in the Trading Hours grid. See Change your trading hours.
If the button is not there
Two reasons: the menu is already published, or you are a non-admin at a store where only admins may change the menu — in which case the New and Save buttons are missing throughout Menu Builder too.
Two menus
If you run both a Preorder Menu and a Catering Menu, each publishes separately. Switch between them with the buttons at the top right of Menu Builder.
