Choose whether customers pay online or on collection

How customers pay in your app and online ordering is set in Menu Builder → Order Types & Payments, in the Customer app column. On 3 October 2026 the Enable Online Payments and Enable Offline Payments (e.g. Cash) checkboxes, and the Modules checkboxes for pickup, dine-in and delivery, moved there from Menu Settings. Turn a payment method on or off 1. Open Menu Builder. 2. Select Order Types & Payments in the left-hand list. 3. In the Customer app column, under Payment methods, tick or untick: - Online payment: card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal and account credit at the checkout. - Pay at counter: the customer pays when they collect. They see it as In-store, or On Delivery for a delivery. 4. Select Save Changes at the bottom of the tab. Done looks like "Order types and payments saved". Keep at least one on, or saving stops with "Customer app: choose at least one payment method." EFTPOS and Cash show — Not in the app: they are for the kiosk and the POS. If a payment method isn't offered - Online payment says Off: not offered at this store: your store has no online payment facility yet. See Apply for online payments and daily settlement. - Pay at counter says — Not in the app, or isn't listed: paying on collection isn't offered for online orders at your store. Pickup, dine-in and delivery Under Order types in the same column, tick the ones you offer: Pickup / takeaway, Dine-in at table, Dine-in bookings and Delivery. A type that says Off: not offered at this store isn't switched on for your store. Keep at least one on. How far ahead customers can order For Pickup / takeaway and Delivery, choose the timing: ASAP only, ASAP or scheduled or Scheduled only. With scheduled times, choose how far ahead: Today only, Up to 1 day ahead to Up to 30 days ahead, or No limit. The tab explains the limits: "No limit lets customers order as far ahead as their app allows: 90 days in the current app, one month in older (version 3) apps." Dine-in at a table is always ASAP, bookings are always scheduled, and menus with pickup locations, delivery slots or delivery stops keep their own schedules. The kiosk and the POS The Kiosk and POS columns follow the customer app until you tick Use different settings for them. See Choose how POS and Kiosk customers order and pay. Still in Menu Settings Menu Builder → Menu Settings, under Menu and Checkout → Preferences: - Require registration (disable checkout as guest): customers must create an account. A promotion code limited to One use per customer can't be enforced against a guest, so turn this on if that matters to you. - Enable Order Notes: the customer can type a note, which appears on the order card under NOTE FROM CUSTOMER:. - Display Images: shows your product photos to customers. Online store always open and the automatic open and close are under Trading Hours on the same tab. See Open or close your store for online orders. Select Save Settings after changing anything there. A catering menu If your store has catering, the Catering Menu section at the bottom of Menu Settings keeps its own Enable Online Payments, Enable Offline Payments (e.g. Cash) and Enable Payments by Invoice checkboxes.

Card and payment surcharges in Australia and New Zealand

In Australia, you can no longer add a surcharge for paying by card: it ended on 1 October 2026. A public holiday or special date surcharge is still allowed. In New Zealand you can still add a payment surcharge, and the steps are below. Australia: card surcharges have ended From 1 October 2026, Australian businesses can't add a surcharge to eftpos, Visa, Mastercard or American Express payments. That includes online payments and Apple Pay and Google Pay. Where the surcharge settings used to be, the portal now says: "Payment surcharges ended on 1 October 2026. Australian businesses can no longer add a surcharge to eftpos, Visa, Mastercard or American Express payments. Surcharges for a specific date — public holidays and other special dates — are not affected and can still be set under Special Dates." What you can still do: - Add a surcharge for a public holiday or other special date. Set it on the date in Menu Builder → Special Dates. See Close for a public holiday or special date. - Check your EFTPOS terminal. A surcharge the terminal adds by itself is a card surcharge too, and we can't switch it off from here. If you use Tyro's dynamic surcharging (Integrated Surcharging under Settings → Eftpos Integration), turn it off in your Tyro terminal settings. New Zealand: add a surcharge 1. Open Menu Builder. 2. Select Order Types & Payments in the left-hand list. 3. Scroll down to Surcharges, below the grid. 4. Set the surcharges you want (below). 5. Select Save Changes. The surcharges save with the order types and payments on that tab. Surcharges moved here from Menu Settings on 3 October 2026. Surcharge Online Payments "Online orders: You may choose to add a surcharge for customers who pay at the online checkout." Options are No surcharge, Fixed amount, Percent of order total and Automatic. With Fixed amount or Percent of order total, type the figure in the box beside the dropdown. Surcharge Offline Payments "Online orders: You may choose to add a surcharge for customers who pay offline, e.g. cash or card on fulfilment." Options are No surcharge, Fixed amount and Percent of order total. Surcharge Eftpos Payments "POS and Kiosk orders: You may choose to add a surcharge for customers who pay using the eftpos terminal attached to your kiosk. Do not use this option if your eftpos is set up to automatically surcharge payments." Options are No surcharge and Percent of order total. It applies to EFTPOS payments on the POS as well as the kiosk. Don't surcharge twice Read the second half of the Eftpos help text before you use it. Many EFTPOS terminals surcharge on their own, Tyro's Integrated Surcharging among them. If yours does, leave Surcharge Eftpos Payments at No surcharge, or the customer pays the surcharge twice. Surcharge in one place only. Apply for online payments and daily settlement

To take card payments online with daily settlement, you need your own payment account with Pin Payments. Opening one is free: there is no setup fee and no monthly fee. The only cost is a transaction fee on each online payment. What you need, and how to apply Our website has the full checklist and the link to apply: - Australia: What you need to set up online payments - New Zealand: What you need to set up online payments Read it before you start. It covers your ABN or NZBN, your business bank account, the photo ID check for each owner and director, and the three documents Pin Payments asks every business for. An application that stalls is almost always missing one of them. Already started an application? Log back in to your Pin Payments dashboard and pick up where you left off. You won't lose what you entered. Where the portal points you A store without its own payment account has Settings → Payment Gateway. It shows what your own account gives you and how applying works: Settings › Payment Gateway: Paid daily, Free to open, Cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay, and Your own account, then the three steps and the See what you need and apply button - See what you need and apply opens the checklist on our website. - Continue an application opens your Pin Payments dashboard. - Talk to us sends us a message from the portal. While you apply If you already take card payments through our gateway, nothing changes while you apply. We keep paying you weekly, into the bank account under Payments from us in Settings → Billing. See Update your payout bank account. Once it is live Once Pin Payments approves your account, we connect it to your store. Your online payments then settle to your bank daily, and each one shows in your Pin Payments dashboard. - Tick Online payment in the Customer app column of Menu Builder → Order Types & Payments, then select Save Changes, so customers get the option at checkout. See Choose whether customers pay online or on collection. - Refunds become possible from the order card and from Reports → Transactions. See Cancel or refund an order. Apple Pay and Google Pay If digital wallet payments are temporarily unavailable, a banner appears at the top of the portal saying so, and customers see a matching notice at checkout. Card payments are unaffected and your store keeps taking orders as normal. Nothing needs doing at your end.
